Capabilities

What we can make a Drupal site do, and where each capability is already at work.

Live external data

A site that stays current with the authoritative sources in its field, without editors copying data by hand. Records from outside databases become Drupal content that pages can display, reference and search, and a site decides which of their values stay live with the source and which it keeps as its own copy.

Related reading, chosen by meaning

News and research from outside the site, scored against what the site itself is about, so that a page shows coverage that is actually related rather than whatever shares a tag.

  • Product: Editorial Intelligence
  • At work on: Biodiversa
  • For: research portals, content-heavy sites where tagging by hand does not scale, and organisations that want their site to follow its own subject

Interactive ecosystems

A curated set of species shown as a living community that visitors can explore through time, place and habitat, drawn so that search engines, screen readers and translators can read every label.

  • Product: Ecosystems
  • At work on: the Quercus Project, installed and not yet public
  • For: research programmes, museums and conservation organisations with survey data to show

Mixed-rights content

Sites that publish material they do not all own: rights are tracked per item, and what a visitor may see follows the rights status. The catalogue stays public (titles, authorship, short excerpts) while restricted full texts stay protected, and anything whose rights are unknown is treated as restricted.

  • Product: Copyrights Guard
  • Status: built, and in use in development on our own research platform
  • For: archives, libraries, content aggregators, media organisations, and academic and NGO sites that publish third-party material

Research archives

A definitive home for a large body of work: lectures, books, papers and recordings catalogued, classified against standard schemes and browsable by subject, with where each item came from kept alongside it.

  • Product: Research Library
  • Status: in development, on The Neville Goddard Library
  • For: estates and literary executors, foundations, academic archives, museums and publishers responsible for the record of a significant body of work

Accessibility to WCAG 2.1 AA

Semantic HTML, a correct heading structure, keyboard navigation, screen-reader support, colour contrast and alternative text, handled in the theme layer on every site from the start. Where accessibility is a funder requirement or a legal obligation, we document the decisions made during the build.

  • At work on: the Quercus Project, tested rather than declared
  • For: universities, NGOs, government bodies, and any organisation that wants its website usable by everyone

More on the standards we build to: built right.

Quantities and units

Structured data that records how much and in what unit, so that quantities can be converted and added up rather than stored as tags: dosages, recipes, scientific measurements, bills of materials.

  • Status: the field layer and unit-aware totals are built; a full calculation engine is planned
  • For: scientific and research sites, food and recipe applications, materials and manufacturing
